Perhaps, I Was Wrong About Medium

I’ve had relative success on Medium.
This means I’ve had articles that have gotten thousands of reads, comments, claps, and thousands of dollars spanning five years.

But I’ve also had relative struggles as well.

Most articles I’ve written, that I thought were good enough, had not faired well or met my expectations. Which would make it seem as though I have impossible expectations; but I assure you, I do not.

And to be completely honest, putting in countless hours of effort to consistently write and craft quality stories — only to get fewer than a hundred views and barely 200 claps — started to make me wonder if Medium might be biased. I really did. Honestly.

I did think Medium was skewed towards certain writers and countries.

Furthermore, what fueled this thought was the observation that a lot of mediocre writings and stories, particularly from India and America, seem to attract a significant number of reads and comments.

A clear example happened earlier today. An Indian writer left a comment on the article I had just published, blatantly critiquing my story. His words, verbatim: “Your topic of story and content written are both different with full complexity of sentences in boring way.”
