Medium – New Algorithm! New Look! A Good Thing?
My two-cent on Medium evolution.
I rarely write about Medium. Though I have a few cents that I’d love to throw in every now and then. I opt not to because of the optics.
But then, I saw a quote that says, ‘people who don’t post status regularly would think they’re the most mature people on the planet.’ The quote bit me.
So I said, ‘fuck it.’
Here’s my due centesimi!
My favorite YouTuber often says, ‘do not fix what’s not broken.’
And if he’s not sophisticated enough to persuade you, then maybe Edmund Burke will; ‘if it’s unnecessary to change, then it’s necessary not to change.’
Get the gist now?
Medium has changed! But no one asked if we needed the change?
Was the old system broken?
If you talk about improvement — wanting to make something better, I’m all for it. However, the total demolition of a perfectly functioning system boggles my mind.
The ideal; ‘A more relational Medium,’ doesn't seem like a bad idea.
However, the right approach, therefore, should be to build on the already successful platform. And not take out the bread that feeds the workers.
