It’s such a sad story.

She seemed strong willed. And unless that is tampered with wisdom, it can be dangerous. Probably why she might have gone against her instinct to stay away from the snake, and also refused to yield to the advice of the medical practitioners.

It’s painful because it’s precisely like you said, “it was an unnecessary death.” A few simple different choices, and she’d be here, perhaps.
