Isn’t that the million dollar question that’s torn us apart in this age?
We need our beliefs, feelings and choices to be respected, but when it’s time to take action, whose do we take?
I believe everyone has the fundamental human right to live as they choose. However, your right to your choices and way of life should not disrespect or disregard another’s right of peace, comfort and safety.
And I think that’s where we should draw the line.
To respect people’s belief for example doesn’t mean you should be forced to live under the consequences of their beliefs.
Accepting their belief and allowing them to feel respected, accepted and safe in their choices should not involve me being forced to participate in your belief.
I hope you understand my stand?
It’s a serious conversation. And one we must have. As we continue to grow in civilisation and modernisation, we’d need to contend with issues like this.
And as long as it’s impossible to please everyone, then am afraid, there’ll always be offended people.
