I totally agree! I think the major issue on the platform is the shift that occurred gradually since it’s creation, but made worse, like you stated, by the pandemic.

Initially, when I found Medium, I didn’t know one could write on the platform. Because back then, Medium presented itself first as a premium platform to read incredibly written stories.

That was what drew me in. Back then, over 80% of its users, were readers. Now it’s reversed, almost, if not more, 80% of its users are writers, looking to make money.

So yeah! Medium, honestly speaking, at least the one we used to know, is dead and gone. Now it’s just, read me and I’ll read you. Let’s make some money!
