I have the same experience too. Medium has become a platform where you really need to work hard.
In a way, it’s sad.
Because many writers entered this platform to make money while writing at least three to four quality content a week. Which to me, it’s a good number per week.
That way, they can maintain a normal job alongside Medium.
But the new algorithm has made that almost impossible. Because Medium now wants you to treat being on Medium as a full time job.
Which is risky due to their unreliable distribution and earning.
That’s why most writers are leaving. Bills are real and family expenses is a sure thing.
Sometimes, it’s not just about consistency. The Medium distribution and earning is just unpredictable that writers can’t be guaranteed a good earning if they commit while they’ve got bills to tend to.
So let’s cut our fellow writers some slack.
