I was telling a friend the other day that I was an emotional writer. While I thought she wouldn’t understand what I meant, she said, “Oh! Just like Adele.”

“What?” I said, confused.

“Adele has claimed she wrote her best works during a heartbreak.”

“Oh!… Yeah exactly like that.”

In case the term is kinda foreign to you, I’ll explain.

Emotional writers are writers that desire emotional stimulation to write, though not every piece of content but most of their content. And the contents they produce during these emotional episodes, are often their best contents.

Since the world has made us believe that being emotional equals being soft, and it is a feminine trait, many (especially men) have shied away from appearing sensitive and emotional.

But not me.

Most of the pieces I’ve written that turned out to be my most powerful pieces came from those emotional episodes — moments of sadness, regrets, or pure joy. It’s beautiful to write from my heart than from my head.
